  • Summary of the project: PREDICTION is a fundamental research programme that gathers challenging domains such as design and manufacturing of special refractive-index gratings, biofunctionalization, design of specific adaptive packaging, integration of biosensors into a catheter and in vivo experimentations. Its main scientific goals are listed hereafter:
    • Manufacturing of optical fibre biosensors able to exhibit surrounding refractive index detection limit equal to 10-6: design of radiative refractive-index gratings, functionalization, incorporation and selective immobilisation of biomolecular receptors on the surface;
    • Detection of biomolecular binding interactions on the biosensor and determination of device sensitivity, reliability and performance;
    • Development of a protective and adaptive packaging for the biosensors as well as a portable measurement platform;
    • Integration of the packaged biosensors in a catheter and validation in a clinical study.
